Course Reserves - Student Information
Where do I get reserve items in Clemons?
Reserve books and videos are kept at the 4th Floor Circulation Desk and are shelved by call number. If your class has a webpage with a syllabus or online course readings, you can view it through UVaCollab.
What do I need to request a reserve item?
You’ll need to provide a call number to a staff member at the desk.
How can I find the call number?
You can find the call number for an item by looking it up in Virgo. You can also search for a list of your instructor's reserve items by their last name or by the course on the VIRGO reserve search page.
How many reserve items can I check out at a time?
Each patron is limited to checking out 2 reserve books at a time, and 1 reserve video at a time.
How long can I check them out?
Loan periods are
Books: 3 hours or 2 days
Videos: 3 hours
Can I take reserve items out of the Library?
Items with a 2-day loan period can be removed from the library, but items on reserve for 3 hours may not leave the building.
Where can I watch reserve videos?
For videos, our 32 viewing stations and 4 small-group viewing rooms are located downstairs on the 3rd floor in the Robertson Media Center. Keys to the viewing rooms can be checked out at the 4th Floor Circulation Desk.
Where should I return reserve items when I’m done with them?
Please return all reserve items to the 4th Floor Circulation Desk. To insure timely check-in, please return items to a person rather than through the drop box.
Are there overdue fines for reserve items?
Yes, reserve overdue charges are:
Three-hour reserve items: $1.00 per hour
Two-day reserve items: $1.00 per day
