Finding and Using Books and Magazines
You can find call numbers through VIRGO, our online catalog. Staff at the Circulation Desk can help with searches. Our books are arranged according to the Library of Congress Classification system as follows:
- Clemons Library has a collection of 100,000 books and periodicals. The collection largely consists of high-use social sciences and humanities titles and representative basic texts in other fields. We maintain multiple copies of many high use items.
- Magazines: Clemons subscribes to 57 periodicals which include news, public affairs, science and popular culture titles, as well as 10 film studies journals. All newspapers can now be found in the Periodical Room on Alderman Library's 3rd floor.
- Sunday Book Review Titles: Clemons receives virtually all fiction and nonfiction books reviewed in the New York Times Book Review and the Washington Post Book World within a few days of their review. These books can be found on display near the elevator on the 4th floor.
- Browsing Books: We feature a collection of recent bestsellers and popular titles on the 4th floor.
