Digital Content Strategies
Google Book Project
The U.Va. Library has been a Google Partner Library since November 2006. During the past three years we have provided monographs and journals from our circulating collection to Google for digitization. Patrons can link to the book content via VIRGO and Google Book Search.
Library-managed digital content
The U.Va. Library is increasing full-text digital content according to discipline-specific needs and availability. We have moved from locally-hosted to vendor-hosted solutions as a preferred access method for licensed content. We will begin to add locally-created content to a beta version of the Library’s repository due to be available by Fall 2010.
Electronic Theses and Dissertations
The Library has begun conversations with University stakeholders about interest in establishing a model for electronic submission and management of theses and dissertations. Early discussions have resulted in the recognition that policies will need to be established at the individual School level and coordinated by the Provost’s office.
