Collections
The Learning Commons is home to a diverse collection of library resources to support the teaching, learning, and research needs of the Curry School of Education.
Book Collections
Most of the print books are housed in Alderman Library. There is a small collection of print materials housed in the Learning Commons. These include:
- Children's and Young Adult Books
- Books included in our Children's collection have been awarded one of these awards
- Research Handbooks
- Test Instruments Information
- Statistics Information
- Reference Books
Dissertation Collection
- Dissertations Online: Please consult the database, Dissertations and Theses Full Text, for access to U.Va. dissertations and over 1,000 universities from 1861 to present. Full text access is available from 1997 to present. Additional full text is added daily in the 1861-1996 segment of the database.
- Print dissertations are kept at the Ivy Annex and may be requested from the disseration record in VIRGO, the online catalog.
Journals Collection
- Online journals: Please use our "Find Journals by Journal Title" tool.
- Current print journals and older bound journals may be found at Alderman Library and requested from Ivy Annex and Ivy Stacks.
ERIC Document Collection
- Online: Enter the title of the ERIC document into the Google search box using quotation marks around the title as many ERIC documents are now online.
- Microfiche collection: ERIC documents reproduced in microfiche format from 1966 to July 2004 are located at Alderman Library
Librarians choose the books and other materials for the library collection, in support of the teaching and research needs of the University. In specific cases, the library has established approval plans whereby scholarly titles of major publishers are acquired automatically.
