Kraus Curriculum Development Library
Now available as Kcdlonline, a searchable database that provides curriculum information
on a variety of subjects covered in PreK-12 and Adult Basic Education. Documents from
the 20th edition forward are available full text in a PDF format. You can view these PDFs
directly from the kcdlonline web site. Documents from earlier editions are located in the
black microfiche cabinets in the microform/copier room at the rear of the library. The index
for the documents is on top of the cabinets.
The Textbook Colloquium
The Textbook Colloquium was founded in 1988 to promote the interdisciplinary study of
textbooks. Textbooks provide evidence about what is taught. Their prefaces, footnotes,
and text offer clues to authorial and other intentions, values, and prejudices. Information
about teaching methods and educational ideologies can be gleaned from the books'
material form: the organisation and presentation of subject matter, variation in type face
and size, page layout, the relationship of text to illustration, and so on. A major function
of the Colloquium is to make available information on the location --
sometimes to report or confirm the very existence -- of individual books or collections.
