CHILDREN'S BOOK COLLECTION IN THE CLIC
Whether you need to review books for a class or just want a good read, be sure to take a look at the children's book collection in the CLIC. Located in the room behind the brick wall you face when entering the CLIC, not only will you find a wide assortment of picture books and chapter books from pre-school to young adult, there are comfy chairs and tables for reading and working in the space. There is also a self check-out machine so you can take books with you. View this video on using the self check-out machine.
Coming to the CLIC around January 15 for a several week demo, the Media:scape table is a “walk-up and connect” experience that merges furniture and technology to help teams access and share information. Media:scape uses a pedestal table with cleverly embedded hardware and interactive technology to foster group work. A unique puck-shaped handset allows users to connect laptops and control the content of what is projected on a single, or up to four flanking LCD screens. Handsets are easily stowed in the designated “media well,” reserving the table surface for active work and related tools. When the system is powered on, first-time users are offered a short tutorial animation, eliminating the need for IT’s help with set-up or shut down. Come, try this out, and share your opinions.
CHECK IT OUT!
Just a reminder that current journals and bound journals housed in Alderman Library can be checked out. If you wish to check out a current issue or bound volume, take the journal to the circulation desk on the 4th floor across from the main entrance.
Current journals (the most recent year) in print are located on the 3rd floor West in the Periodicals Reading Room. Bound journals are interfiled with books and shelved by call number.
Counselor Education students enrolled in EDHS 7210, Introduction to the Counseling Profession hosted a class poster session in the CLIC December 1st. In addition to displaying their posters an conversing with interested CLIC visitors, the group provided treats for all to enjoy. Thanks!
