WHAT IS THIS?
It is a QR (Quick Response) Code. You may have noticed QR codes posted in various places such as on buses, signs, business cards, advertisements or on any object which needs additional information. Users of a smart phone equipped with a camera with a QR reader app can scan the QR image to display text, contact information, or open a web page in the phone's browser.
Curry's Youth-Nex staff have been experimenting with QR codes. They put a QR code on the bulletin board in the hallway outside room 220. They are considering affixing them to conference posters created by faculty and students. That way, when a conference attendee comes to a Youth-Nex poster sessions, the attendee can scan the QR code and save the contact info. The code in this cases takes them to the main web site of Youth-Nex. How cool is that! Creating a QR code is fast and easy.
There are several readers available for free download (including RedLaser, NeoReader, and i-nigma.), though some mobile devices have built-in readers. You can also go your phone's APP store or use Google and enter, "QR app" into the search box to locate QR apps for your type of smart phone.

TENURE
Did you ever wonder what expectations universities have for tenure track faculty? Here is an example from the University of Oregon. They provide the following career advice about tenure track
WE MAKE OFFICE CALLS
Can't come to us? We'll go to you. CLIC librarians can come to faculty, staff, and students offices to work with you. For example, wouldn't it be less time consuming if you could restrict a database search on your topic to a specific methodology such as a longitudinal study, meta-analysis, or literature review? Do you want assistance with managing your bibliographic references with RefWorks? If so, please contact:: Kay Buchanan 434-982.2664 or Carole Lohman 434-924-7040.
