Founding and Early History

When the Barrett Daycare Center first opened, there was a regular tuition charge of one dollar a week for each child. Mothers who could not afford to pay full tuition were often able to share the expense with her employer, while other children were able to attend the daycare with scholarship funds generated by the community.

Among the papers of the daycare are surveys of the parent's incomes over the years, along with records of the tuition paid for each child. In addition, there are applications for admission into the Daycare.
