  In the 1557 Devises héroïques, Claude Paradin associates the "fleur du Soucis" with the late queen of Navarre. As he explains, the queen never ceased to follow the light of divine truth, just as the marigold, with its petals resembling the sun's rays, constantly turns its face toward the sun.
