U.S. -- Histories, Records, and Genealogies for Individual States

For genealogical works on individual states other than Virginia, for which an extensive bibliography follows, check the subject card catalog under the name of the state or county (e.g., "Georgia- Genealogy"; "Macon County, Georgia genealogy"). Some of the general genealogy guides in chapter I, such as the American Society of Genealogists' Genealogical Research Method and Sources, also list important sources for research an other states.

The following works may be useful for locating historical information on a particular locality.
