What is GOVDOC-VA?
GOVDOC-VA is a listserv that provides news, information, and discussion especially for library staff who work with government information, publications, and data at all levels throughout the Commonwealth of Virginia . It is being operated by the University of Virginia Library as a part of its services as regional U.S. Government Printing Office depository for Virginia. The software and equipment are provided by the Information Technology and Communication Department, University of Virginia. WHAT TO POST TO GOVDOC-VA
News, announcements, discussion of issues, reference questions & tips, user access, and any other topics which relate directly or indirectly to the use in VIRGINIA of government publications, information, and data. All levels of government are included: federal, state, local, and international governmental organizations (IGO's). All issues affecting government information are included: collection development, reference activities, automation, electronic data, user access and education, and maps/GIS. Needs & Offers will be included as a means of partially fulfilling GPO weeding procedures.
Who should subscribe to GOVDOC-VA?
The list should prove most beneficial to staff of federal and state depository in Virginia libraries, it is open to anyone who has an interest in access to government information and data within Virginia.
