The Harrison Institute (#19 on this map of the University grounds ) occupies the second and third floors of the Harrison Institute / Small Special Collections Library building. It is located on McCormick Road, adjacent to Alderman and Clemons libraries.
Driving Directions
Travelling East or West on Interstate 64:
Take Exit 118B, which is marked "North 29" and "To Route 250" Take second exit, onto Business Route 250 East, where you will pass U.Va. Visitor Center (University Police) on your right (maps and parking information available here). After the third traffic light, you will see tennis courts on your right. Alderman Library is the first building on the right. Parking: For nearby parking garage, turn right at the third traffic light onto Emmet Street, putting tennis courts on your left. Pass large building on your left (Memorial Gym) and turn left into parking garage.
Travelling South on Route 29:
Continue South on Route 29 past several miles of shopping centers and businesses until you pass under the Route 250 bypass. At the fifth traffic light, the Best Western Cavalier Inn will be on your right. Turn left onto Business Route 250 East. You will see tennis courts on your right. Alderman Library is the first building on the right. Parking: For nearby parking garage, continue south on Route 29 (Emmet Street) under the fifth traffic light. Tennis courts will be on your left. Pass large building on your left (Memorial Gym) and turn left into parking garage.

Directions to the Harrison Institute / Small Special Collections Library building from the Central Grounds Parking Garage:
Take the Central Grounds Parking Garage elevator to 4th floor. Make a right out of the elevator and pass the University of Virginia Bookstore (on left). From the brick plaza behind Newcomb Hall, go up the outside stairs on the right side of Newcomb. For handicapped access, enter the double doors into Newcomb Hall, and take the elevator to the 3rd floor and exit the first set of double doors. Outside of Newcomb, or at the top of the stairs, go left past Peabody Hall. The Harrison Institute / Small Special Collections Library building is the next building on the left, adjacent to Alderman and Clemons libraries.
Accessibility
The Harrison Institute/Small Special Collections Library building and all exhibits are fully handicapped accessible.
Parking
Hourly parking is available in the Central Grounds parking garage, on Emmet Street, about a block south of the intersection with University Avenue. For tour or school buses, please contact the University's Department of Parking and Transportation .
