Instructional Scanning Services - UVaCollab/Toolkit
Overview
Instructional Scanning Services provides assistance to faculty by scanning and uploading materials to the Instructor's UVaCollab/Toolkit webpage as additional course readings. ISS also provides links to materials in electronic format to the Instructor's UVaCollab/Toolkit, and scans materials for other instructional uses.
Criteria for UVaCollab/Toolkit Requests
- Materials are for instructional use.
- Material conversion is time-sensitive, i.e., the materials need to be delivered for instruction within a specific timeframe.
- Material is not over 100 pages or 50 images.
- Material meets the Fair Use Guidelines under the U.S. copyright law (Title 17, United States Code), or copyright permission has been obtained by the instructor.
Request Process
- Logon to the Interlibrary Services Web Request System on the right.
Have you used this Interlibrary Services Web Request System already? If not, you will need to set up an account. On the right, click on the "First Time Users" button and fill in the registration form.
- Choose "UVaCollab/Toolkit" option on the left-hand side of the screen. Fill in all required information and click on the "Submit Request" button.
- You will receive an email when your document is available on your UVaCollab or Toolkit account. For UVaCollab, the files will be in your "My Workspace" area. Articles will be in PDF format; color plates and other images from books, articles, photographs, slides, and other visual formats will be in an appropriate file format such as .TIF or .JPG.
- Track the progress of all your UVaCollab/Toolkit materials, by logging oon to the Interlibrary Services Web Request System and view "All Requests" for your account.
Deliver Course Materials to Our Office
If you have the materials in hand
- deliver them to Instructional Scanning Services in Alderman Library, Room 107
- or, take to your home library and ask that the materials be sent to ISS, PO Box 400109
