Ivy Stacks

Overview

The Ivy Stacks Facility manages over 10,000 square feet of shelving space in its high-rise stacks, and currently contains an estimated 762,399 items from the University Library, the Darden Library, the Health Sciences Library, and the Law Library. It is climate-controlled for archival storage.

IVY Retrofit Project, 2010-2012

Many of the items previously shelved in the Ivy Stacks facility have been re-accessioned and are available for retrieval for our U.Va. patrons and community members. We are still in the process of returning all the items to the shelves so there is a possibility that a specific title will not be available. We encourage our patrons to place a request for an item located in Ivy using the ILS Web Request System (http://www2.lib.virginia.edu/leo/) and we will do our best to retrieve the item from Ivy Stacks. For U.Va. students, faculty and staff Interlibrary Loan will attempt to borrow material not yet available. Community users are not eligible for Interlibrary Loan, but may apply to their public libraries for assistance.

Until the Ivy Retrofit is complete in the summer of 2012 we are not accepting requests for lending to other libraries for items shelved at Ivy Stacks. More detailed information about this project is available at http://ivystacks.lib.virginia.edu.
