Preservation Services supports the teaching and research programs of the University of Virginia by maintaining access to and improving the physical condition of the U.Va. Library's collections. Our ultimate goal is to maximize the life expectancy and utility of the collection for current and future users of the U.Va. Library.
Activities include a library binding program; a collections conservation treatment program to care for the general or circulating collections; coordination of the digitization of brittle materials as well as audio and moving image collections; and coordination of vendor conservation services for the rare and unique materials in our special collections; and the promotion of preservation awareness in the U.Va. community and beyond.
